Mp3 Experiment Mission Report

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to the Experiment, hope you all had fun.

On Friday September 28th, around 20 people showed up in front of University Hall, Mp3 players in hand ready for the first Bowling Green Mp3 Experiment. This was an idea borrowed from Improv Everywhere in New York, though written to utilize the BGSU campus. At exactly 4:30 everyone pressed play and followed the directions presented to them.
Here the group waits and starts to get ready around 4:30
Our "Tour Guide" hippie who led the group to the second location of the mission
The man on the left told his friend half way through our group walking out the door " I like this group already" these two received high fives from nearly everyone that came out the door, and loved every minute of it.

Onlookers try to figure out what is happening

Laying down at the end to relax

Participants began with a few warm ups as well as jumping. After being split into 2 groups by birthdays they had a dance off. One group was instructed to smile at the other group as big as they could, while the other group was instructed to dance as poorly as possible. At the conclusion of the song our good friend Paul the hippie appeared to lead everyone to the next site of the mission. As the group walked to the next site they were instructed to try to high five as many strangers as possible. After a short trip through the union and a lot of high fives, they arrived at the union oval. From there, Paul helped the group form a bullseye based on the color of everyones shirts. once it was formed, the yellow shirts (who had been left out) were given the task of being the darts. they tried to get as close to the middle as possible, but didn't get very far. the next activity was a game of freeze tag, where the former darts became the "it" the group ran away from everyone with a yellow shirt while listening to the song "mellow yellow". Blue was it next. After 2 rounds everyone seemed pretty tired, so our narrator Steve, The Omnipotent Voice from Above let everyone lay down to relax. While resting, everybody said their goodbyes and Steve reminded everyone that he would be back another time.

THE MP3 EXPERIMENT FAQ'S

1. What happens if I'm late? Don't be, do everything you can to be there early. If you are late try to find someone and match what time they are at the best you can.

2. Can I listen to the MP3? No, well you can, but you really shouldn't until 4pm on the day of the event

3. What is the file called? It should be labeled The_MP3_Experiment for the song and album name.

4. How will we know when to start? You will have synchronized your watch or cell phone clock to the atomic clock above. Start right at 4:30 PM

5. Do I have to have an iPod? No. The event is designed for folks who own an iPod or similar portable mp3 player, but those of you with portable CD players can participate as well. Simply download the track and burn it to a CD. Don’t have a burner? Ask a friend to burn it for you. Don't have anything to listen to it on? go with a friend and share headphones.

6. Can I bring something to play it out loud? No, again we can't stop you, but it is designed to be heard through headphones and playing it out loud will ruin part of the experience and only take away from the fun you and others would have.

7. What if I don't hit play at exactly the right time? Don't worry, we're counting on everybody being a little bit off.

8. I have other questions still... Feel free to email: Jasswim@gmail.com with anything else you may want to know. Or leave a comment to this post and either check back or leave an email to contact you at for the answer.

Welcome to the home of Project Mayhem. The name may change, the home may change, the goal however will always remain the same, cause scenes, chaos, confusion and hilarity. On this site you will be able to watch videos and reports of missions. It will also serve as a way to inform you about upcoming missions and events. There will be more to come, but for now:
